Drawing on real-world evidence from cardiac surgery, acute decompensated heart failure, and ECMO cohorts, this talk will illustrate how kidney recovery trajectories and AKD phenotypes identify patients at high risk for long-term kidney and cardiovascular events. It will also discuss opportunities to improve post-AKI care, including earlier resumption of RAAS inhibitors and emerging evidence for GLP-1 receptor agonists and SGLT2 inhibitors. Recognizing AKD may help transform post-AKI care from passive observation toward proactive cardiorenal risk management.
