Claudio Ronco Senior lecturer, DIMED, University of Padova, Italy Director International Renal Research Institute of Vicenza (IRRIV) C/O Department of Nephrology Dialysis and Transplantation San Bortolo Hospital, Vicenza, Italy Claudio Ronco is Emeritus Professor of Medicine and Senior Lecturer of Nephrology at the University of Padova, Italy. He is also director of the International Renal Research Institute (IRRIV) at the Department of Nephrology Dialysis and Transplantation, San Bortolo Hospital, Vicenza, Italy. He graduated in 1976 and specialised in nephrology at the University of Padua in 1979 and subsequently in pediatric nephrology in 1986. He has been Director of the Laboratory of the RRI and Beth Israel MC in New York and professor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1999 and 2000. He is external professor at the University of Virginia of Charlottesville and the University Fudan and Jao tong of Shanghai. He received the Honorary degree at the University of Patras. He authored 1824 papers, 95 books and 195 book chapters and delivered more than 1650 lectures at international meetings. His H-index is 152. He is Editor-in-Chief of Blood Purification, Contributions to Nephrology, Cardiorenal Medicine and Editor emeritus of the International Journal of Artificial Organs. He is the founder of ADQI (Acute Disease Quality Initiative). He is the organizer of the International Vicenza course on AKI, CRRT and ECOS. He has received several international awards including the Belding Scribner Lifetime achievement award by the American Society of Nephrology and the Bywaters Award for AKI from the International Society of Nephrology. He is considered the pioneer in many areas of nephrology including peritoneal dialysis, critical care nephrology, CRRT, Hemoperfusion, cardiorenal syndromes and wearable dialysis technology. He invented the first CRRT machine for neonates CARPEDIEM (Cardio Renal Pediatric Dialysis Emergency Machine). He has been appointed with the highest Honor of the Italian Republic
